The Public Involvement in research Impact Toolkit (PIRIT), is a toolkit led by Alisha Newman and co-developed by public contributors and staff members. It is a set of pragmatic tools which aim to support researchers working with public contributors to:

  • plan and integrate public involvement in research
  • track public contributions and the difference they make to the research
  • report impact against the UK Standards for Public Involvement.

Through a survey, Alisha and the team are aiming to better understand who is using PIRIT, how it’s being used, and if the toolkit is providing value to its users in the way that they hoped. The survey also offers PIRIT users the opportunity to share their views on how it might be improved and to express an interest in their project being considered for inclusion as a PIRIT case study.
