Contact sports are hugely popular and rugby is the heart of Welsh culture. However, there is increasing evidence of a link between repeated head impacts experienced during sport and neurodegeneration. Women are also increasingly getting involved in contact sport, but research typically focuses on men despite numerous sex and gender differences influencing brain injury mechanisms, management and recovery.

This webinar by Freja Petrie will highlight some of her research that aims to investigate how head impacts happen in men and women’s rugby, and how they can be managed.
