British Medical Association (BMA) Foundation Grants available in 2025

Online applications open 1 February 2025 and close on 16 March 2025.
Each year the BMA Foundation awards over £900,000 in grants to encourage and further medical research.
Dawkins and Strutt – £65,000
To assist research into gender and race bias in clinical decision making in healthcare. Projects must be based in the UK.
Doris Hillier – £65,000
To assist research into rheumatism and arthritis.
H C Roscoe – £65,000
To promote research into the elimination of the common cold and/or other viral diseases of the human respiratory system.
Helen H Lawson – £65,000
To promote research into women’s health and wellbeing.
J Moulton (cardiovascular disease) – £65,000
To accelerate diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease using AI techniques. Projects must be based in the UK.
J Moulton (kidney disease) – £65,000
To assist research into the management of chronic kidney disease. Projects must be based in the UK.
J Moulton (ophthalmology) – £65,000
To advance diagnostic and screening tools in ophthalmology. Projects must be based in the UK.
Josephine Lansdell – £65,000
To assist research in the field of heart disease.
The James Trust – £65,000
To assist research into asthma.
Kathleen Harper – £65,000
To assist research into the treatment and management of incontinence.
Margaret Temple – £65,000
To assist research into schizophrenia. Projects must relate to the UK only.
Philip Baker – £65,000
To assist research into Ménière’s disease. Projects must relate to the UK only.
T P Gunton – £65,000
To assist research into public health relating to cancer.
The Sherman Fund – £50,000
To assist research into mental health in Wales. Projects must be based in Wales.
Vera Down – £65,000
To assist research into neurological disorders.
