Medical Research Council (MRC) Board and Panel Observer Scheme
This scheme supersedes the MRC's previous board observer scheme and provides researchers transitioning to independence with the opportunity to observe an MRC board or panel. They have expanded the opportunity into more of the MRC boards and panels, broadened the eligibility beyond MRC award holders, and will proritise places for underrepresented groups.
The MRC hopes the opportunity will allow observers to better understand how complex elements, i.e. research questions, methodological approach, expected value or impact and cost effectiveness, come together to determine which applications they award.

MRC Board and Panel Associates Scheme
The new MRC board and panel associates scheme will offer valuable experience that is an integral part of building a successful research career. It will provide researchers the opportunity to gain experience of peer review, serve on an MRC funding board or panel and benefit from mentorship as part of a two-year programme. It is aimed at researchers from under-represented groups who are actively transitioning to independence and leadership.
